SPE Retreat Site Criteria
We use the following factors to help guide us in the choosing of retreat locations for the re-visioning retreats. The place assists in setting the tone for the retreat. So we visit retreat centers to ensure they can aid the purposes of the retreat. Below is our selection criterion.1. Hospitality and flexibility/accommodation of staff
2. Housekeeping and cleanliness of meeting and sleeping rooms
3. Beautiful setting
4. Amenities (i.e., labyrinth, good hiking, etc.)
5. Separate space for meeting – away from others, and distractions
6. Appropriate, comfortable space for spiritual direction (at least 5 separate rooms)
7. Meeting room & worship space (size, cleanliness, comfortable, flexible configuration)
8. Off site options (for restaurant, recreation, etc.)
9. Separate space in dining room
10. Separate space for hanging out at night
11. Proximity to airport
12. Cost of flights to location
13. Last as an exclamation point – environment conducive to renewing a friendship with Jesus!
